The three names, sorted out
Visitors search for “Baima, Shisanhang and Zhanxi Road” as if they were three clothing markets. They are not.
| Name | What it is | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Baima 白马服装批发市场 | Clothing, mid to higher end | 16 Zhannan Road, Yuexiu, opposite Guangzhou Railway Station |
| Shisanhang 十三行服装批发市场 | Clothing, mid and low-priced | Junction of Shisanhang Road and Doulanshang Street (十三行路与豆栏上街), Liwan |
| Zhanxi Road 站西路 | Watches, costume jewellery and accessories | West side of Guangzhou Railway Station, Liwan (by map) |
Baima’s address comes from its own website and Zhanxi Road’s description from Trip.com. Shisanhang’s location and products come from Travel China Guide, and the Chinese street names from Newsgd’s Liwan guide. For the wider picture, see Guangzhou wholesale markets.
What is Baima like for a visitor?
Baima is the largest high-end clothing wholesale market in Guangzhou, according to Travel China Guide. Baima’s website lists women’s fashion on 1F, men’s and women’s on 2F, women’s brands on 3F to 5F, menswear on 6F and 7F, and European and Korean women’s brands on 8F. Newsgd reported in 2024 that the clothing section spans 8 floors, most prices run from over ¥100 to ¥1,000, and the focus is original designs, many with a “Neo-Chinese” style. The same report says customers from Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia and Singapore had increased since the start of 2024.
Getting there: take Metro Line 2 or 5 to Guangzhou Railway Station 广州火车站. Baima’s website says the market is opposite the station and gives Exit G. Buses stop at Zhannan Road Station, then it is about 250 m north, per Travel China Guide.
Hours: 08:00 to 18:00 according to Baima’s website (Travel China Guide says 08:30 to 17:30). Go in the morning.
The railway station is the landmark. Trip.com says Baima is directly opposite it.
What is Shisanhang like?
Shisanhang sells mid and low-priced clothes, including knitwear, suits, shirts and jeans, according to Travel China Guide. It lists the hours as 09:00 to 14:00. Newsgd’s Liwan guide shows that “Shisanhang” is a cluster of buildings and streets along Shisanhang Road, not one hall:
| Building or street | What Newsgd says it sells |
|---|---|
| New China Plaza 新中国大厦 (No. 1 Shisanhang Road) | Bags and accessories on 1F; mid and low-end women’s clothing on 2F to 3F; mid and high-end European and Korean fashion on 4F to 6F; mature casual women’s clothing on 7F to 9F |
| Hongbiantian Wholesale Market 红遍天批发市场 | Jeans on 1F; plus-size women’s clothing on 1F to 3F; Korean fashion on 4F; casual women’s clothing on 5F and 6F |
| Guyi Street 故衣街 and Doulanshang Street 豆栏上街 | Low-end women’s casual clothing and accessories; low-end clothing, accessories and shoes |
Newsgd also lists apM Times International Fashion City (apM时代国际服装城, 26-28 Zhanqian 1st Street, Zhanqian Road, Liwan), a large market for shoes, clothing and accessories with Korean fashion businesses, and Hui Mei International Panxin Fashion City (汇美国际·磐信服装城, No. 139 Huanshi West Road), which focuses on women’s and children’s clothing. Newsgd’s guide leans towards women’s wear, and it lists men’s trendy clothing on Heping East Road and Jianglan Road, and casual and business casual menswear on Guangfu South Road.
Getting there: take Metro Line 6 or 8 to Cultural Park 文化公园 and walk east for about 400 m, per Travel China Guide. Check the exit in your map app. The nearest bus stop in that guide is South Renmin Road Station.
What about Zhanxi Road?
Trip.com calls Zhanxi Road (站西路) the “watch street”, home to dozens of shopping malls, with markets for costume jewellery and accessories. It is next to Guangzhou Railway Station, so it is easy to add to a Baima visit. By map it is on the Liwan side, west of the station. It is not a clothing market, so skip it if clothes are the goal.
When should I go?
Go in the morning: Shisanhang’s reported closing time is 14:00, and Baima’s is 18:00. Newsgd says the mid-year sales promotion brings a surge of shoppers to Shisanhang, Shahe and Baima, “even more so than usual”, with deals such as ¥100 for three pieces. Its Liwan guide says the best time for Hui Mei International Panxin Fashion City is the year-end promotion, with clothes as low as ¥100 for three pieces and down jackets for ¥100 to ¥150. Expect crowds at those times, and check each market’s own notices for holiday closures.
How do I pay?
Use Alipay or WeChat Pay at most stalls and keep some cash. At the April 2026 launch of the city’s market plan, officials said major foreign cards would be enabled for core vendors in key business districts, with no date. See Guangzhou wholesale markets for the plan, Alipay and WeChat Pay for foreigners to set the apps up, and cash and ATMs for yuan notes.
Etiquette and photos
We found no published photo or fitting-room rules for these markets. Practical courtesy applies: ask before photographing a stall or a person, and ask before taking items into a fitting area. Leave large luggage at your hotel. Prices vary by stall, so check the tag before you ask.
Where to stay
Many buyers stay around Guangzhou Railway Station and Yuexiu District, according to Trip.com, because the fashion markets are close together. See where to stay for the Canton Fair if your trip also includes the fair, and use the Show your driver card for taxis.
Traps and how to avoid them
- Looking for clothes on Zhanxi Road
Zhanxi Road (站西路) near the station is known for watches, costume jewellery and accessories, according to Trip.com. Baima is on Zhannan Road (站南路).
- Arriving in the afternoon
Shisanhang is reported to close at 14:00 in one guide, and Baima's website gives 18:00. Go in the morning.
- Taking the wrong station exit
Baima's website names Exit G of Guangzhou Railway Station (Lines 2 and 5). If that exit is closed, follow the signs in the concourse and look for the market buildings opposite the station.
- Counting on card payment
Foreign card acceptance at stalls is a goal the city announced with its April 2026 market plan, not a confirmed fact. Use a payment app and carry some cash.
