Traps and how to avoid them
- Guangzhou Station is not Guangzhou South
广州站 is a central station in Yuexiu. 广州南站 is in Panyu. Both are on Metro Line 2, but they are in different districts: Yuexiu and Panyu.
- Three things called Baiyun
Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun Station (广州白云站) and the metro stop Guangzhou Baiyun Station on Line 12 are different places. The airport is about 20 km north of the rail station.
- The intercity stop Guangzhou Chimelong
The Guangdong intercity line has a stop called 广州长隆. It is an intercity stop, not a main rail station. Use Guangzhou South unless your ticket says otherwise.
- Old guides that list Guangzhou Station for slow trains
Conventional trains stopped starting and ending at Guangzhou Station on January 26, 2026. They now start and end at Guangzhou Baiyun. A few still stop at Guangzhou Station, per Xinhua.
