Chimelong Safari Park: Tickets, Hours and Getting There

What is Chimelong Safari Park and why go?

Chimelong Safari Park (长隆野生动物世界, Chánglóng Yěshēng Dòngwù Shìjiè) opened on December 26, 1997. The official page says it keeps more than 500 species and over 20,000 animals, including pandas and a large koala group. It is a family day out in Panyu District, south of the centre. It is a better pick for children and animal lovers than for a short city break; if you have only a day or two, the things to do hub shows what else competes for the time.

What do tickets cost?

The official page on October 19, 2026 showed:

Pick your date on the official booking page. The notice page also lists daily animal area times and closures, so read it before you go. The official page offers a birthday discount: register as a member at least a day ahead, and on your birthday bring valid ID and your member card for 50 percent off the standard single-park ticket. It warns the offer may be unavailable when capacity is limited. The page does not state child height rules, free tickets by height or the refund policy, so check those when you book.

What are the hours?

October 1 to 6, 2026: 08:30–19:00. October 7 to 31: 09:30–18:00. Hours change by month, per the official page, which tells visitors to check the site or notices on the day.

How do you get there?

Take Metro Line 3 or 7 to Hanxi Changlong Station (汉溪长隆站). Chimelong’s traffic page names Exit E and about a 5-minute walk to the shuttle stop; two third-party pages say Exit A. A 2023 article listed the free shuttle every 10 minutes from 08:30 to 19:40 and every 15 minutes from 19:55 to 22:15, but timetables change. The address is 广州市番禺区汉溪大道东299号. The official page mentions a north gate and a south gate, each with a ticket-checking plaza. See the metro guide for payment, and the Didi guide for a ride back if the metro is crowded.

What is there to see inside?

The official page names these highlights: the Komodo dragon (科莫多龙), Hundred Tiger Mountain (百虎山), Giraffe Square (长颈鹿广场), the Sky Cable Car (空中缆车), Panda Paradise (熊猫乐园) and the koala park (考拉园). It also lists “keeper” programmes for children aged 5 and over, such as panda and koala keeper sessions, which are separate products. The page lists no safari park shows; the Chimelong International Circus is a separate venue.

Notices on the page showed closures: three cable-car lines (Swan Lake, African Savanna and Panda Paradise) on October 17, 2026, and the Huaguo Mountain zone and 4D stage (notice dated September 12, 2026). The official page does not say whether the small train and cable car cost extra once you are in, so ask at the gate or the hotline.

How long do you need?

Plan 5 to 8 hours, which is an editorial estimate, not an official figure. Opening hours of 09:30–18:00 give you at most 8.5 hours in late October, and animal areas have their own times on the notice page. Arrive at opening, do the animal areas you care about first, and keep the cable car for the end if it is running.

What does a visit look like from start to finish?

This is a planning sketch, not a timed route. Take the metro to Hanxi Changlong in the morning, using the shuttle if it is running, and scan your booked ticket or ID at the gate. Put bags in a gate locker if you do not want to carry them. Check the notice page for the day’s animal area times, then walk or ride between the areas the official page names, such as Hundred Tiger Mountain, Giraffe Square, Panda Paradise and the koala park. Eat inside the park or before you arrive; the page lists a dining section but gives no details. Leave before closing, and have a ride-hailing app ready if the shuttle has stopped, since the 2023 report gave 19:40 as the last departure.

What are the practical tips?

• Check closures on the day. Cable-car lines and zones were suspended in autumn 2026, so read the notice page.
• Use the lockers. The official page lists lockers at both gate plazas: a backpack-size locker is ¥10 for the first 2 hours, then ¥5 an hour, capped at ¥25 a day. Larger sizes cost more, and items cannot be stored overnight.
• Mind the date. Weekdays are ¥50 cheaper than peak days for a standard ticket.

What are Chimelong’s other parks?

The Chimelong site lists three resort areas: Guangzhou, Hengqin (Zhuhai) and Qingyuan. They are separate resorts with separate tickets. Wikipedia lists the Guangzhou group in Panyu as Chimelong Paradise, the Safari Park (formerly Xiangjiang Safari Park), the Water Park, the International Circus and the Birds Park, and says the Zhuhai Ocean Resort, with Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, opened in 2014. Wikivoyage (dated) lists the Paradise at ¥200 and the Water Park at ¥140 to ¥198, open April to mid-October. Treat those prices as old and check Chimelong’s site. What should you know about entry?

The official page does not state a passport rule, so call the hotline, 400-883-0083, whose staffed hours are 09:00–18:00, or ask at the gate before you go. Bring your passport in any case.
